KILLOUGH BIENNIAL GATHERING
AT JACKSONVILLE, TEXAS

It's that time of year again!  The biennial gathering of the Killough families is gearing up for another exciting reunion.  We have some interesting activities going on at this year's reunion and we hope you'll make plans to come and join us.  If you're an "old timer" at the reunions -you know the routine, but if you're a newcomer, here's the plan-

First, Make sure you get your reservations made soon at the Guest Village Inn (formerly the Best Western) in Jacksonville for the weekend of June 9-11th, 933-586-9841.   The rooms are going quickly, so don't delay.  There are other reunions and the Tomato festival the same weekend.  We're going to have the  "2nd Biennial Killough Baking Contest".  Be sure and bring your best baked goodies-cakes, pies, cookies, breads, for the contest judging and prize awarding AND the Saturday afternoon "eating".  At the last reunion everyone enjoyed the reward of getting to taste the goodies!! Especially the JUDGES!

Second, be sure and bring all the family you can, and from as far away as possible.  Bring the oldest Killough and the newest Killough as prizes will be awarded in all four categories.

Third, we're having a silent auction again this year.  I think everyone enjoyed this and really took home some nice treasures.  Make plans for this, we saw that Killoughs are very talented.  All proceeds will go to the KILLOUGH MASSACRE MEMORIAL SITE, INC. fund. (And while we're speaking of the memorial, we are getting some help from the people of Jacksonville for the cleaning of the memorial grounds.)

Fourth,  the Saturday evening dinner will be held at the Larissa House Restaurant at 6:30 P.M. and will cost $11.50 per person. (More later)

And Fifth, plan to come and have a great time meeting your "cousins" and learning about your heritage of the Killough family.  We will have lots of newcomers this year and we want to make them feel real welcome.

LARISSA HOUSE DINNER

This year's banquet will be held at the Larissa House Restaurant at 301 W. Larissa.  We had such a great time there last year and the food was great.  The menu will be a choice of entrées: Chicken in a Pastry or Chicken Fried Steak with all the trimmings.  If you need special menus, please tell us at the time you make your reservations.  Please make your reservations for dinner as soon as possible so we can get an accurate number for the restaurant.  Dinner will be $ 11.50 per person. There will be a special children's story time at the dinner "for all ages".  Please contact Janet Green at (936) 446-1396 or email at JGreen3444@aol.com.

1997 EDITION OF THE KILLOUGH
FAMILY HISTORY AND GENEALOGY

You will be proud to own the beautiful newest edition of  The Killough Family in Ireland, Canada and The United States, which will be available at the reunion in Jacksonville for $28.00.  After that, prepaid orders will be filled.  Add $5 for postage and packaging for one or $7.00 for sets of two.

Though no more editions of the Killough book in its entirety are expected to be published, data to be used by Killough researchers is still being accepted by the historian, Zora Killough Cunningham.  Bring to the reunion additional material you have on your family, as well as corrections.  If you have been doing research on your family through the Internet, be prepared to share your knowledge of how you do it.

It is possible that a companion Killough Family Photograph Album will be published in the future.  Eventually CDRoms will be made of all the material in the 1997 ed. book, plus additions.  Also all data will be put in gedcom format and RootsWeb so it will be accessible for all of us to use as soon as we have volunteers to help with this.  Janice Luncford of Oceanside, CA, has volunteered to head up this activity.  Contact her at jluncford@home.com if you can donate some time to work with her on this much needed project.

www.killough.org

Our web site is being updated in March.  There are new historical and informative articles and announcements you will be interested in.  This web site has attracted the attention of numerous Killoughs and Killough descendants who had not known about our goal of keeping the family together no matter how scattered they are in modern times.
